CAM FORBES MEMORIAL TROPHY

alt-text

The latest trophy to be added to the Championship is the Cam Forbes memorial trophy, kindly donated to us by Cam’s wife Dawn. As with the Dave Simpson Trophy this similarly prestigious award was re-presented at the Real Night Out with Dawn doing the honours. As well as receiving the trophy the recipient also received a replica to keep.

The trophy is in memory of Cam who was a regular over several years winning his class and also taking the prestigious Spirit of the Championship award.

The trophy recipient is decided on a very complicated basis (only John and Duncan can understand the rules and they change them every so often to protect the complexity and lack of understanding!!!). The trophy is awarded to the driver at a chosen Anglesey meeting who improves most between practice and race without sand-bagging or other devious methods. Anglesey was Cam’s favourite circuit and he was famous for ‘getting his act together’ between practice and race.

It was quite close this year. However, only 6 drivers across the two races ended up improving their positions in total. Of those Helen Allen came third, with Jason Hennifer second. The overall winner was :

Steven Parker
