Steven Parker wins Cam Forbes Trophy at Anglesey 07 Sep 16

The recent Anglesey rounds of the CNC Heads Sports/Saloon Championship saw the second awarding of the Cam Forbes Trophy. The trophy has been very generously donated by Dawn Forbes in memory of Cam. The trophy is presented to the driver who makes the most progress from practice position to race position across both races at one of the Anglesey rounds.

Taking into account retirees and any anomalies there were six drivers who over the weekend had gained positions from their practice positions. I would have thought there would have been more but not in this occasion. These drivers were Garry Wardle, Paul Dobson, Steven Parker, Jason Hennifer, Ralph Underwood and Helen Allen. James Aukland and Richard Roundell along with Steve and Jason were leading after the first race on the Saturday but neither James nor Richard managed to finish the second race. When all the calculations had been completed the overall winner was Steven Parker in his BMW Compact who had improved by 7 places overall. Second and third were Jason Hennifer and Helen Allen.

Shortly after the second race after the class winners had been presented with their awards and bubbly (well fizz anyway), Dawn Forbes came forward and presented the Cam Forbes Memorial Trophy to a very proud Steven Parker. From the enthusiasm shown by all drivers I am sure that this award will soon rival the Dave Simpson Memorial Trophy as one of the major awards to be won each year.

Steve can be seen in the title photograph (although it looks like he is camera shy as his eyes are closed!) being presented with the trophy from Dawn Forbes.

The trophy will be kept by Steven until the relevant event in 2016 but in true BARC(NW) tradition will be re-presented to him at the Real Night Out Annual Presentation Dinner Dance at the end of January next year. Steven will at that point be given a replica to keep.
