After an eventful 2022 season both on and off track the BARC NW Rescue Crew were awarded the prestigious Marshal of the Year trophy at the annual BARC NW dinner dance. The season was a particularly difficult one with the untimely passing of long-time crew member Chris O'Brien in June. Crew chief Colin Whitter dedicated the award to Chris and his wife Ruth accepted Chris' replica on his behalf, together with his two daughters Megan and Lydia.

BARC NW Rescue had a very busy season in 2022 and were scrambled to many incidents as they attend race meetings around the country. In addition, the crew were the first emergency vehicle on scene at a road traffic collision as they headed home after a race meeting at Snetterton.

The team also competed in the United Kingdom Rescue Organisation Challenge hosted by West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service in Birmingham. This was the first time that a non-Fire Service team were permitted to enter the event and Motorsport UK selected BARC NW to represent Motorsport Rescue.

The whole team were delighted to be presented with the award. They each volunteer many hours of their time each year at training and race meetings to ensure that when things do go wrong the people that they deal with get the best care.
